Rafting – Lower Manso
Enjoy this family rafting adventure! It may just be the best family adventure vacation –Ever!
Sandy beaches, thrilling rapids and the whole splendor of the Andes Patagónicos (Andean-Patagonic) woods.
We pick up the passengers at their lodging. We leave Bariloche through Route 40, in the direction of Lake Steffen passing by lakes Gutierrez, Mascardi and Guillelmo.
Once at lake Steffen, approximately at noon, while the guides set up the rafting gear, we change into our wet suits. After a brief safety talk by the head-guide, we are ready to go down the Río Manso.
Surrounded by high peaks and exuberant forests, as our raft drifts downstream we can spare a look at the stunning natural sights and appreciate the rich flora of the National Park: coihue, ciprés, arrayán, maitén, radal, colihue cane, chilco, etc. We will also have a chance to see birds such as Martín Pescador (Kingfisher), Bandurrias, Avutardas and Teros. The crystal-clear waters of the Manso will allow us to see different species of trout as well.
After approximately an hour and a half, we stop at a beautiful sandy beach, where our guides will prepare a delicious lunch for you. A long table with a variety of fresh food: bread, dressings, cold meat, cheese, vegetables, fruit, something sweet and juice, all set in such a way that our guests can freely prepare an original sandwich or pick the food of their choice.
Around 3 p.m. we are all set to resume the trip. From here on, the Manso becomes more and more thrilling. Uvasal (Alka Seltzer), Banda de Billar (Billiard Edge), Diente de Hipopótamo (Hippo Tooth), Montaña Rusa (Roller-coaster) and Roca Magnética (Magnetic Rock) are some of the rapids we will run.
In the summertime, the sun invites us to enjoy a plunge in the lukewarm backwaters. After passing the confluence with Río Villegas, we run some more exciting rapids. Our trip ends when we arrive at the Lower Manso valley.
At our base, the van is waiting for us. We change clothes and enjoy an exquisite snack at the cozy quincho (shed). We then start our trip back to Bariloche, arriving around 7pm.
